Fort Bulnes is a replica of the original fort that was burnt down in the 19th Century after it was abandoned when the company relocated to Punta Arenas.
There are two construction methods for the building in the fort. The first method for the barns and other agricultural building consisted of a wooden frame with walls filled in by "grass bricks" which consisted of soil and the roots of the grass to keep the soil bound together.
The other way is the classical log construction where notches are cut into logs to allow them to interlock.
