Falkland Islands (Malvinas)
After travelling past Cape Horn, it was on to the Falkland Islands (also known as the Malvinas in Argentina), landing in Port Stanley by tender as the Crown Princess did not anchor in the harbour area. Opposite the harbour area, the hillside is adorned with the name of ships that have come to grief in the area.
Although many of the British passengers took the tours that covered the battle zones relating to the 1982 war, Mark and Alexa opted for a local bus trip to Gypsy Cove for a leisurely nature walk.

As we went rattling down the road to Gypsy Cove, it was one of those times when Mark and Alexa would have liked to have been by themselves. As it was, there was only a fleeting opportunity to look at the Lady Elizabeth through the bus window as they zoomed past.
Although Mark and Alexa has chosen not to visit the battle fields, there was still evidence of the conflict no matter where you went. Fortunately, however, the closest that they ever came to a mine was the type of sign below and the various monuments.
