Planning a Drone Flight
The first step in planning a drone flight is to select the launch site and flight zone. There are many restrictions on where a drone can be flown in the metropolitan areas, and there are many airstrips in the country that may not be immediately obvious. The "Where Can I Fly" app will show the CASA restrictions that apply at sites around Australia. Click on the image to the left to open the web app.
While the app shows the restrictions imposed by the location of airports, helicopter landing pads, and current emergency activities, it does not provide an indication of whether the intended site is within 30 metres of occupied (or potentially occupied) buildings, roads that may carry traffic, parks that may contain people, etc.
